Hi! I am a 32 year old lady…I just started weight lifting to get my body back in shape…especially my shoulders and arms. Is weight lifting (dumbbells) actually non-effective when it comes to sports or real strength?

I have been doing some weightlifting and it sure showed off pretty quick, I got ripped etc., but what I also realized is that it didn't give me real strength or any advantage in any physical activity, it was just looking good but completely impractical. Calisthenics and (more…)

Pyramid sets in Weight lifting?

I do all my weight lifting sets in pyramids of: first set is 10 reps, second set is 8 reps, third is 6 reps, and fourth is to failure. Is this a good routine?

How many calories do you burn weight lifting?

How many calories do you burn weight lifting?

I am wondering how many calories can I burn weight lifting? I am 30 yrs old, 136 lbs and abut 5 5'.. if i use a 8 lbs weight and do various different ways of it for say 20 minutes how many calories does that burn? Weight lifting question- do I eat protein before or after?

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to look at this, I was just wondering, do I need to eat protein before I do my trainings, or after? My friend told me that protein takes 8hours to be digested, so do I eat before my trainings or after?

I used to weigh 280 pounds and overtime I lost 100 pounds and now I weigh 180. I've been lifting weights now and doing more running, but the scale says I am gaining weight.
